“God is Spirit”
This is a fantastic statement by Jesus! “God is Spirit” means so much to us and for us.
It means that we know what God is. He is first and foremost Spirit. That is his state of existence, Spirit.
It means we can understand how God can be known. Spirit can only be known by spirit. Spirit communes with spirit. That is how we are joined to the Lord, how we are “one spirit with him.”
If we have eyes to see, we can see that God had a design in mind for us to know him before the foundation of the world. That we were created with the full possibility, potential and ability to know him. Because he said,
“Let us make man in our image.”
God put in man the possibility of knowing him, because he made man in the image of Spirit, and only spirit can know Spirit. As Jesus said,
“That which is generated out of the flesh is flesh; and that which is generated out of the Spirit is spirit.”
The Father gives Jesus to us so that we are able to say, “I know where I came from.” Do we know that we are generated out of Spirit? That we were born of Spirit when he said, “Let us make man in our image”?
And in knowing that we are generated out of Spirit, are the things we do generated out of Spirit, through our consciousness of oneness with the Father?
Let us eat the bread of Life, drink the Inner Spring. Let us be one with the Father, consumed by this Life which is Spirit. Let us know that we are generated out of Spirit, and live in the consciousness that we are one spirit with him.
And let what we do be generated out of Spirit, for
“That which is generated out of Spirit is spirit.”
