“In that day you shall be knowing that I am in my Father, and you in me and I in you.”
When exactly is that day?
It can be today. It is “this day” that we receive our daily Bread. It is this day that as we eat of the Living Bread, Jesus himself, that our consciousness opens afresh to know that he is in the Father, that he is in us, and that we are in him.
I was reminded again yesterday of the importance of today. Perhaps you, like me, are facing some challenging things. Those ‘giants’ that I’ve mentioned before. The things that shout loud, seem to make a lot of noise and attempt to intimidate us and seek to distract us.
Sometimes they stand a way off in the distance, making their noise. We can see them and hear them though.
At other times they are right up in our faces, pressing their noses against ours and trying to intimidate us.
Sometimes they are things which try to make us worry about the future and what is hiding around the next turn in the path we’re taking. They attempt to fill us with fear and drag us from the Way. We can hear them but maybe not see them.
Whatever they are and however they try to intimidate us, there is a way to simplify everything. “Today.”
I’m reminded of Jesus as he encourages us to ask the Father by saying, “Give us THIS DAY our daily Bread.”
There is Living Bread sufficient for you and I today. “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!” That becomes so much more profound in the light of the Father giving the True Bread and Jesus saying to us to eat of himself.
For we cannot taste and see that he is good unless we first eat of him. We cannot see without tasting. We cannot taste without eating.
“Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more.”
It’s not being fed until we want no more of the Living Bread. It’s being fed until we want nothing else BUT the Living Bread.
It’s knowing that, when we eat, this Living Bread is within us, revealing the Father in us also. It’s tasting and seeing in such a way that ‘that day’ becomes ‘this day’ for us.
It’s eating of him and knowing that he himself is sufficient for today.
“Father, reveal your Son in me; Jesus reveal our Father in me.”
Father does that by giving us Living Bread to taste and see.
And it’s amazing that when we eat of Jesus himself, today, we are also able to say to Jesus,
“I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.”
That is a wonderful new way of seeing it for me. That we too are able to say something so deep and profound through experience. That is tasting and seeing!
Make “that day” “this day.” Today. 🙂
Eat the Living Bread, drink the Living Water.
